TVaholic Is Good At Picking Shows

The self imposed “one week with no TV” ended yesterday.  I felt like a kid waking up on Christmas morning when I realized not only could I have coffee (the #1 reason to get out of bed in the morning) but I could also, finally watch TV!!!!

Most of the day it was just on in the background while I checked e-mail, created a photo DVD, wrapped presents, and posted some stuff on eBay to sell.  In the evening I spent some dedicated time to catch up on In Treatment, The Walking Dead, and Dexter.

Quick commentary: The “Sunil” wrap up of In Treatment was a-mazing, the rest I could live without.  Walking Dead ended on a perfect note.   Can not wait until next season.  Dexter continues to be awesome.  Love that he has a little serial killer buddy who is also a good person.  Crazy!  Two of them!

Even with all of that awesomeness, I felt kind of blah and useless at the end of the day.  I was also a little hungover, again, from trying to be social two nights in a row (which required alcohol, of course) and night two was much less fun.  Not sure I can completely blame the TV watching for the blah, but it needs to be considered as a factor.  More scientific research would be required.

I did feel slightly redeemed today when I saw the American Film Institute’s Top 10 TV shows of 2010 because most of them are on my Top “10” list!!  At least I watch mostly good TV.  Here is the list:
‘The Big C’ (Showtime)
‘Boardwalk Empire’ (HBO)
‘Breaking Bad’ (AMC)
‘Glee’ (Fox)
‘Mad Men’ (AMC)
‘Modern Family’ (ABC)
‘The Pacific’ (HBO)
‘Temple Grandin’ (HBO)
’30 Rock’ (NBC)
‘The Walking Dead’ (AMC)

I don’t watch, The Big C, but I did write a post (A Night in the White Room) about my friend who decorated a room inspired by the Big C for the “Showtime House” project.  So I feel like I have seen it!

The Pacific is just not my thing.  It’s about war.

I just started recording Breaking Bad because they started showing all of the episodes from the beginning last week on AMC.  I tried the show once and did not love it, but I should clearly give it another shot.

Also note that Temple Grandin was a made for TV movie that I LOVED and talked about in my post The Emmy’s Rocked.

Finally, it is abundantly clear that 30 Rock needs to be promoted back up to “must see” status from “when I have extra time” status.  It did annoy me for a while, but it is back and better than ever.  Alec Baldwin is the man.

Off to catch up on Fringe….not on the list, but awesome because I say so, and I pick mostly good shows.
